My name is Marilyn Schappert and I am the owner of and groomer for D’Tails Dog Spa.

I am a graduate of Merryfield School of Pet Grooming in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and have been grooming since 2007.

I am a National Certified Groomer, certified in terriers and sporting dogs by the National Dog Groomers Association of America. I am currently working on my non- sporting dog certification with the ultimate goal of obtaining a Master Groomer certification.

I regularly attend annual seminars and workshops in an effort to continue learning about new products and techniques. I subscribe to the following Code of Ethics:

“I, as a professional Dog Groomer in the pet
industry, promise to accept my responsibility
when caring for all pets. I shall enhance their
beauty through proper grooming skills to help in
the creation and style best suited the
individual pet and its owner, to continuously
educate myself and my patrons in the proper care
and welfare of their pets. I will not
discriminate against any person – to set an
example of good will and integrity, show
affectionate understanding and gentleness to all
and always perform my duties in a humane
manner.”

Dog groomers are not required to be licensed or certified by the state of Florida or any other state. Voluntary credentials reflect the groomers’ commitment to raising the standards of the individual groomer as well as the profession resulting in a higher quality of service, better grooming skills, overall care of the dog and an ethical commitment.
